Malik Tariq

Personal Statement

Malik Tariq is a Pakistani visual artist whose journey in art began in 2000. Over the years, his practice has evolved into a deeply personal exploration of silence, solitude, and the emotional resonance of everyday life. Through his work, he translates quiet observations into visual narratives that invite reflection and connection.

His paintings often center on tranquil, isolated spaces where light emerges as a powerful symbol of hope and continuity. This subtle interplay of light and shadow has become a defining element of his artistic identity. A recurring source of inspiration is the life of local fishermen, their boats, and old streets. He is drawn to their resilience, simplicity, and intimate relationship with nature. These themes are expressed through a restrained monochromatic palette and rich textural layering, allowing viewers to experience both the stillness and depth of his inner world.

Malik spent nearly 17 years in Istanbul, Turkey, where he completed his master’s degree at Istanbul University. This international exposure significantly influenced his artistic perspective, blending Eastern sensibilities with a broader, global visual language. He continues to expand his artistic direction, exploring new approaches to texture, composition, and the relationship between landscapes and urban spaces.

His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Pakistan and internationally, and is held in private collections in Pakistan and Dubai. He is a member of the International Watercolor Society in both Pakistan and Turkey. From 2010 to 2026, his paintings have sold through galleries worldwide, including Pakistan, Dubai, Turkey, Spain, London, and the USA. Malik is a professional visual artist.
