Sohaina Elia

Printmaker | Visual Artist | Assistant Professor

Sohaina Elia is a printmaker and visual artist currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi. With a robust background in visual arts and communication design, she previously taught at the National College of Arts, Rawalpindi, and contributed as a Communication Designer and Visual Artist at Tehrik-e-Niswan in Karachi.

Her academic journey includes an MFA in Printmaking from Punjab University, College of Art & Design, and she has played an active role in Pakistan’s artistic community. Sohaina’s professional portfolio spans graphic design, art curation, and book jacket design, showcasing her creative versatility.

Recognized on both national and international platforms, Sohaina’s work was selected for Pakistan Pavilion @COP 28, Dubai for Climate Chronicles, where she represented Pakistan through her art. She has also showcased her talent for Project Babel – International printmaking project initiated by Galleria Ratamo, Jyväskylä, Finland and also showcased at Lincoln, Nebraska, USA and Galleri Valdal, Denmark, further cementing her place in the global arts scene. 

In addition to her academic and artistic achievements, Sohaina draws inspiration from Urdu literature, poetry, and classical music, which deeply informed her practice. Her art practice is an amalgamation of traditional and modern art processes; printmaking, digital art and mixed media. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking, independent exploration, and an interdisciplinary approach, encouraging her students to merge traditional and contemporary frameworks in their artistic journeys.

An avid traveller and nature enthusiast, Sohaina believes in continuous growth—whether through engaging with global cultural dialogues or inspiring the next generation of artists.
