Sabiha Nasr-ud-Deen is a Masters in Fine Arts and a gold medalist from the Punjab University Fine Arts department. She has been painting and exhibiting at various venues in and outside Pakistan.

"I had a solo show while still a student at the Arts Council gallery - Gulgee wrote in my brochure – "She will go a long way.“. I hope I have fulfilled the confidence he had in me.

After my Masters from the Punjab University in 1968, I joined C.L.A.C located in the Arts Council building, to teach drawing and painting alongside Ali Imam. These were great days as many artists came to work and exhibit in the gallery below the institute. Some painted in my studio amongst whom were Sadequain, Ahmed Pervaiz and Bashir Mirza. They became dear friends, the gap in age was filled with camaraderie. Sadequain used to say that "My line was only second to his, but my colours were better.“

"My work is a prayer of gratitude and hope “THE PAKISTAN SAGA II” is an attempt to bring to the viewer the phantasmagoria that is Pakistan my country, my people through my eyes. paint with my heart my moods, subjects and medium vary but the feeling remains the same.“

My works exhibited in the current show bring to the viewer my passion for recording all that leaves a mark on me. stay true to myself, my style comes through.

In these troubled days I hope my work gives the viewer a sense of pleasure and hope for a better future.

Her colours are bright and clear, and include some daring reds and yellows. The subject matter is mostly woods, lined with trees that run along the zigzag pathways with the light showing through the leaves of the silhouettes.

Portraiture is used to depict the famous malangs of Sindh who seem to dance in rhythm. The extended arm of the performing dancer adds to the balance of the figure which, thus, maintains its equilibrium.

Some of the portraits seem to be serious studies of acquaintances draped in appropriate apparel. Here, the cheekbones have been hidden behind the thick shawl, with only the cartilage of the nose protruding through. The heavy turban is used to cast a deep shadow over the face which gives a sense of fourth dimension — that is, movement frozen on the canvas.

Dr. Ajaz Anwar (Pride of Performance), Artist

Sabiha Nasr-ud-Deen’s remarkable freedom of applying the brushstrokes, the choice of her colours and her excellence of drawing gives her work an excellent aesthetic appeal.

Shahnawaz Zaidi, Artist

Sabiha’s art reflects the love that she has for her country, Pakistan and its people through her beautifully painted canvases.

Jimmy Engineer, Artist

I rate Sabiha as one of the best landscape painters of Pakistan. Her use of think vibrant colours and technique is simply awesome and does her teacher, Anna Molka, proud.

Orooj Ahmed Ali, Art Critic

Sabiha recreated nature to its greatest imagery. Her canvases ooze in swirling, thick and vibrant colours. The hard life of women is depicted through carrying water.”
